The Hernández Strategy Group executes a wide range of communications and media strategies to promote and highlight our clients’ missions and goals. Through direct relationships with media outlets HSG is able to increase the visibility of our clients and their issues through traditional press events and innovative earned media activities. Additionally, we identify critical political moments to pursue outside-the-box opportunities to increase the exposure of our clients and their issues. HSG has successfully arranged numerous legislative briefings, events in the State Capitol, and lobby days to educate policymakers.
Communication Campaign Case Study:
HSG organized a presentation in the State Capitol by Films by Youth Inside (FYI Films). This event brought together Legislators, non-profit organizations, and business entities to discuss unique approaches to addressing juvenile recidivism rates. It included a presentation by the founder of FYI films, as well as comments by members of the Legislature, and a 6-minute screening of a short film written, directed, and acted by incarcerated youth. The event was co-sponsored by the The California Latino Capitol Association. This video about the screening was prepared by FYI Films.
FYI Films is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping incarcerated youth. This organization, founded by Alex Munoz in 2011, has engaged more than 200 incarcerated youth in an intensive, fundamental film making program and has produced more than 40 short films, many of which have been screened at film festivals around the country. Through media literacy and the creative story-telling process, youth find their voice and gain valuable skills that are transferable to all areas of their life.
